Judges by Thor is based on the
book in the Bible of the same title that tells the story of
the way a culture becomes adulterated by its neighbors. The
judges are leaders who are used as instruments to bring
about deliverance to the people that have gone astray. It is
a story full of cycles that begin with impurity, followed by
a return of the right, and a gradual decline of the people
back to impurity.
In a brave effort, Thor makes a go at
capturing the essence of the characters in Judges through
his ability to distill stories into lyrical content and
themes into music. While there are those who may remember
Samson’s haircut from their Sunday school lessons, Thor
revives the lesser discussed judges such as Shamgar, Ehud,
and Abdon. However, be aware, these are not your felt board
specials.
